Windows 7 to be released this year?
Windows 7 desktop with IE 8 and Chrome co-existing just fine.

Windows 7 might be released this year. This according to column by Ina Fried at CNET. Microsoft has not announced any plans to release this latest version. Ina also said Microsoft is working on a program to offer Vista buyers a free and low cost update to this version. This may happen sometime in July. Hmm, should I wait to buy a new PC since I don’t have Vista installed. Yes, I’m still on XP. Horror stories about Vista scared me.
Previous blog post suggest Windows 7 will cost around $300!!! Whoa, nelly! I surely hope not.
Windows 7 is pretty. And fast. Well, the betas that I have are. Although I haven’t really gotten a good use of them being busy dealing with the usual evil doers. As I’ve written in a previous post, the install was painless and quick. Some software wouldn’t install, some were fine with it.
UPDATE: Windos 7 may be released sometime in October or a few days. Ina Fried of Cnet thinks quotes of blog posting by Steven Sinofsky of Microsoft indicates this. I wouldn’t hold my breath. Besides, I would rather they do it right and release a solid product than to rush things and release another lemon.
