The vaunted Iglesia ni Cristo vote.

Much has been seen and said about the Iglesia ni Cristo’s vaunted unity so I won’t go into much detail of why and how. The Iglesia doctrines defined it based on scriptures and adherence to it is required, also based on scriptures.

On the contrary, the Catholic church, even from it’s earlier years is always been fragmented. Factions within the Catholic church gain support and eventually separate and a new church is created.

Schism

Schism is defined as a rejection of  “communion” with the authorities of a Church, or to put simply, rebellion.  Supposedly, schism is different from heresy because the former does not involve any dispute about doctrines. Apparently, the Catholic church has no doctrine about unity so it is perfectly within doctrine that a member of this church would just, well, up and go and create a new church but still be catholic church.

Among the major schism in the Catholic church are:

  • the East-West Schism which split the Catholic church into the Roman Catholic church and the Eastern Orthodox church.
  • Papal Schism wherein three(3) Popes claimed to be the true pope.
  • the Reformation

Fast-forward 2010

Currently, this dis-unity is being displayed in the political arena when two supposedly leaders of the Catholic church, a priest and a catholic charismatic(?) made known their intent to seek the same political position. BTW, most of the candidates for President in the 2010 elections are also catholics. The majority of Filipinos are assumed to be Catholics and yet come election time, all eyes are on the candidate chosen by the Iglesia ni Cristo.

Voting for leaders is an exercise where people should NOT be united in their choices. Especially in a democracy, this kind of diversity is encouraged. And if you brainwashed hordes have your way, candidates will be accountable TO YOUR CHURCH and not TO THE PEOPLE THEMSELVES. Public officials must do work that will benefit MOST of the people, not just your church that blatantly prostitutes your choice for THEIR BENEFIT.

    Anyway, more power your church.

people should NOT“? Where is democracy is you force people not to vote united?
You’re just jealous because you can’t unite yourselves :)

Resbak, what’s the use for the individual voting for his/her preferred leader WHEN SOMEONE ELSE MAKES THE CHOICE FOR HIM/HER? Your leaders make a mockery of democracy. The whole point of democracy is that YOU have the power to choose YOUR leaders, not YOUR CHURCH. And so, the government is accountable to YOU, not YOUR CHURCH. Your tactics are no better than having a monarchy: there’s no real choice. I mean, this isn’t CHURCH MATTERS you’re dealing with here. You’re dealing with AFFAIRS OF STATE and these things (church and state) are supposed to be SEPARATE.

separation of church and state? so what can you say about the pagan Emperor Constantine declaring the Catholic church as the state religion and which it has been from 325 AD to the 18th century?
mag apologize muna ang catholic church for being a monarchy for the last 1700 years. :)
      pahiya ka no?

The Catholic Church in the Philippines is meddling with the separation of church and state as well by strong-arming the government into backing out of the Reproductive Health Bill. It’s also as despicable and I object to it.

With that out of the way, how do you explain your church’s meddling in state affairs?

    P.S. I’m an atheist. Wahahahahaha!

      - good for you.
      - the Iglesia ni Cristo does not meddle in politics.
      - i’m so sorry for you. just goes to show, not everyone who looks wise has wisdom :)

  4. I Cor. 1:10
“Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and…

    in the same judgment.”

    From http://www.ardictionary.com
    Definition: Expression of judgment…

Vote is an expression of Judgment, and what the bible says is that “that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment”!

What’s WRONG in voting as Bloc that represents unity?:-)
