The rumors are true. Sony is coming out with a console it calls PS3 Slim that will cost $299, down from $399. engadget reports that this console will have smaller 120Gb disk, DualShock3 controllers and HDMI output with 1080p support. More importantly it will still include a Blue-ray drive. Sweet. Kmart and Sears are supposedly taking pre-orders.FYE is reportedly selling an 80Gb PS3 from $299 and the 160Gb model for $399.
The question is, would this price cut drive people in droves, specially during these hard times? Not only that, the price cut is more than likely in response to competitors hogging the market share because of their much lower pricing. What’s stopping them from lowering their prices too?
