Digital camera for bloggers
[ad#inline-ad-in-article]
I’m on the market for a digital camera to use exclusively for blogging and looking around for the best (most bang for the buck) digital “insta camera”. A few months ago I got a Nikon D40 and I just love it! It takes terrific photographs, its light and its versatile. I’ve use it to take pictures of flying birds (yep, took terrific shots of birds in flight!), macro’s of fruits and the usual pictures of me and my wife, family and friends. It is also light and easy to manipulate. But, it’s still and SLR. Although it’s the lightest, smallest SLR I know it’s still bulky specially with my brand new Tamron 70-300. So I carry this nice camera only when I’ve sure I wanted good quality photos for my blog.
Anyway, I need a small point and shoot digital camera to leave in my car and be ready when that unexpected shots comes along and I wanted to document it. Here are a few I looked at:
- Canon PowerShot SD960IS
From the manufacturer:

Immediate gratification is the pulse of today, and the PowerShot SD960 IS Digital ELPH with its streamlined appeal wastes no time at reminding you. “Here’s a camera unlike any other.” But it’s the excitement of ongoing discovery – the way this camera captures the vibrant spontaneity of the world before you – that defines the lasting rewards of the PowerShot SD960 IS Digital ELPH, and the new level of pictures and HD movies that await you.
- Casio Exilim EX-S5
From the manufacture:

The 10-megapixel Casio Exilim EX-S5 offers a new body design, customizable focusing frames and wide-screen video recording, which makes high-quality photographic functionality simpler to use than ever before. A new, high-speed image processing engine even allows moving subjects to be cut and pasted onto still backgrounds or other images.
- Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3
From the Manufactures:

The new Lumix ZS3 features 10.1-megapixels, a 25mm ultra-wide-angle lens and 12x optical zoom, meaning it has added 2x optical zoom to the award-winning TZ-series camera, yet reduced its size. The ZS3 also features a Leica DC Vario-Elmar lens and High Definition (HD) video recording ability, known as AVCHD Lite.
The ZS3 is the world’s first digital camera to feature HD video recording in “AVCHD Lite.” Compared with the conventional Motion JPEG format, AVCHD Lite allows longer recordings with breathtaking HD visual and audio quality. This combined with a well-considered control interface, which includes a dedicated movie recording button on the camera’s back panel, makes the ZS3 a hybrid model that performs admirably for both still and motion image capture.
There you go. I’ll be out looking for these camera’s at Bestbuy, Sears and other and see how much they cost. And of course, if the Amazon.com and Newegg.com has better prices, that’s where I’ll get it. That’s it for now. Wish me luck!
