Did homosexuality drew the attention of Jesus?

In a debate between two groups, a journalist and actor vs a Catholic archbishop and a member of Parliament a question was asked if Jesus said anything about homosexuality. The debate was called “The Intelligence Squared Debate – Christopher Hitchens and Stephen Fry vs. The Catholics” and the subject of contention was to resolved “Is the Catholic church a force for good in the world?” The protagonist were Christopher Hitchens and Stephen Fry speaking against and the Catholics,  Archbishop John Onaiyekan and Ann Widdencomb MP speaking for the resolution.

Both sides made good points although in my opinion the duo of Hitchens and Fry had the better argument and from the voting before and after the debate it looks like I had the same thinking as they. The votes went like this:

Catholics lose the debate

But what really bothered me was when the question “did Jesus Christ himself actually say anything about homosexuality?” was asked. It was a very simple and basic question and as the the only trained and ordained religious person in the panel, one would hope that the Archbishop would be able to answer this question and more importantly would answer it based on scriptures when the words of the Lord Jesus Christ are written.  But I was disappointed. First the archbishop skirted on the question and responded saying the this “was the wrong question!” I was astonished!! After being booed he did further damage when he said the “we(catholics, i guess) are not aware that the morality of homosexuality drew the attention of Jesus”!! Can you believe that? So, was Jesus aware of the IMmorality of homosexuality?

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals,  nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.

There you go. Too bad Catholics doctrines drew away from what is right, and holy, and righteous.

  1. don’t expect the Catholic Priest will quote the truth recorded in the Bible… They don’t know about that. If they know, they’ll neglect it because most of the priests are homosexual.
