On a beautiful aloha Saturday morning, the devoted members from the local congregations of Honolulu and Pearl Harbor, Hawaii dedicated a portion of their time to the Hali Nani Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. With their heads held high, the young members of the Church of Christ stood and sang for a cause from their hearts to entertain the elderly residents and give one of the simplest but greatest gifts — music. With an inspirational songs list, the audience clapped, hummed and even mouthed the words to timeless classic songs, the oldies but goodies. One member of the audience was so touched by the event and said that the children were all very talented. These young Christians have proven that reaching out to the community creates a positive impact in the community and they intend on doing these types of events in the future. A Hali Nani staff member also stated that this event brought joy to their patients and they would love to see more of this in the future. This is not possible without the help of our children’s parents taking their time out of their busy schedules to diligently make sure our young members were well prepared and ready.

The visit to the care center would not be complete without the local congregation’s Resident Minister, Brother Luis Vergara Sr., and his closing speech thanking the audience for their attendance. All the members of Iglesia Ni Cristo that performed took a bow and said “Thank you and aloha” leaving an impression for a lifetime. The event was a success and has touched everyone’s hearts.

The builders of the 50,000-seat Philippine Arena are confident of completing the billion-peso project by early 2014, the centennial year of Iglesia ni Cristo (Church of Christ), owner of the multipurpose complex.
One of the major facilities in the planned city to be known as Ciudad de Victoria (City of Victory), the Philippine Arena, which I reported in an exclusive article, could very well be considered the world’s biggest indoor domed coliseum upon completion.
Built on a 75-hectare land located in the municipalities of Bocaue and Sta. Maria, Bulacan, the compound will also house the Eraño G. Manalo Medical Center and the New Era University Sports Complex and Stadium.
Construction of the Philippine Arena and its adjoining facilities will be undertaken by an international team of experienced engineers and contractors composed of leading firms from Korea (Hanhwa Engineering and Construction Co.), United Kingdom (Buro Happold) and Australia (Populous).
Said Kim Hyun-Chung, a top executive of Hanhwa Engineering: “The Philippine Arena is one of the largest indoor arenas in the world. It covers 245 meters in length and 185 meters in width. However, I believe that this prestigious project means more than its size. It is going to be a historical monument of the Iglesia ni Cristo in celebrating 100 years of its history.

With this activity, sooner it will minimize landslides, soil erosions and flooding to happen,” He further stated that “planting trees is not only for us but also for our future generation to come.”
He said, “after seven years, the tress that we are about to plant will be harvested and it will give livelihood to the people of this municipality.”
On the other hand, Mayor Leonardo Babasa, Jr. welcomed this initiative as this is in consonance with the National Greening Program of President Benigno S. Aquino III.
It can be recalled that sometime in August this year, Pascua coordinated with the local chief executive to hold the said activity in Bayog. The ministers of the district have chosen Bayog as its host in the tree planting activity.
The tree planting was facilitated by Mr. Pablito Matias, Municipal Economic Enterprise Officer and concurrent Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office with the Society of Communicators Network International (SCAN) of the INC. (JPA/BAG/CAL/PIA9/ZamboSur)

The Iglesia ni Cristo continues to show that it cares for the environment as much as it cares for its fellowmen.

Populous builds thriller in Manila: world’s largest indoor arena

29 August 2011

Construction has commenced on the world’s largest indoor arena in Manila, Philippines, designed by the Populous.

The ground breaking ceremony was held last week for the 50,000 seat indoor stadium at Ciudad de Victoria.

With a construction value of AUD $200M, the arena has been commissioned by the Philippine religion, Iglesia Ni Cristo (the Church of Christ) and will be complete in time for the Church’s Centennial Celebration in 2014.

Populous has designed the arena with engineers Buro Happold, and construction will be carried out by Hanwha Engineering and Construction Corp.

Project Director, Populous senior principal Andrew James, said:“The building’s capacity pushes the boundary of Arena design and will eventually establish itself as the world’s largest indoor arena. The form uses simple geometry to create an elegant appearance, while also giving the venue a powerful presence within its setting.”

The arena has been master planned to enable a further 50,000 people to gather at a “live site” outside the arena, to share in major events.

While the arena will hold major church gatherings, it will also operate as a multi-use sports and concert venue, capable of holding a range of events, from boxing and basketball, to live music performances.

For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church – Ephesians 5:23

For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church – Iglesia ni Cristo doctrine

The Pope is the head of the church i.e. the Bishop of the Catholic church - A full catechism of the Catholic religion By Joseph Deharbe, pg 133

It’s the 97th year anniversary of the establishment of the Iglesia ni Cristo in the Philippines, the fulfillment of God’s pronouncement that He will call His people in the east and gather them from the west. Thus, Brother Felix Y. Manalo became God’s instrument in the fulfillment of God’s decree. All praise to the Almighty God and His beloved Son, our Lord Jesus for the manifold blessing accorded to the church.

Sadly, the anniversary also wakes up the remnant persecutors of the church. Only this time, it’s not giant religious organizations such as the Roman Catholic or Protestant churches. Those days are long gone when the Iglesia ni Cristo routinely trounces them in public debate. It’s not even upstarts like the now nowhere to be found Soriano, or Quiboloy. Nope, the current persecutors of the Iglesia ni Cristo are trolls. You heard me right, trolls. Not the mythical trolls but internet trolls. Anonymous Bloggers and forum lurkers who are too much of a coward to come out in public and challenge the INC face to face.

One of the most notorious is catholicdefender2000. Catholicdefender2000 is an Overseas Foreign Worker who’s hobby is to blog about the INC.He used to be known as losav but after I’ve found out that he’s a homosexual prostitute, he decided he needed to separate his alternative lifestyle, being a gay prostitute, from this Catholic apologetic facade.

There’s nothing wrong with blogging. Just make sure you know what you’re talking about AND you got your facts straight. And be smart enough to make sure you don’t sabotage your own lies on the same page. Predictably, this is what Catholicdefender2000 did. This is what he wrote on his blog recently. He said:

Thanks to Manila Bulletin for saying it correctly. The Iglesia ni Cristo emerged in the Philippines in 1914 was founded by Felix Manalo!

He then proceeded to quote the publication, thus:

Iglesia Ni Cristo 97th Anniversary on Wednesday, July 27, 2011

MANILA, Philippines — The first church of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) was established in Punta, Santa Ana, Manila, on July 27, 1914.

Its founder, Brother Felix Y. Manalo,

He’s obviously trying to imply that the INC was FOUNDED by the late Brother Felix Y. Manalo. EXCEPT WHAT HE QUOTED IS NOT an official INC publication, meaning his source COULD BE WRONG. Are they? Well this is where the homosexual prostitute displays his ignorance and confusion. Because on his next blog post barely 12 hours later, he quote the Pasugo, THE OFFICIAL MAGAZINE of the Iglesia ni Cristo wherein according to him it states:

“Sino ang tunay na nagtayo ng Iglesia ni Cristo na lumitaw sa Pilipinas noong 1914? Hindi ang kapatid na si Manalo kundi ang Dios at si Cristo

(Who truly built the Church of Christ that appeared in the Philippines in 1914? Not the Brother Manalo , but God and Christ)

PASUGO Enero 1964, p. 6:.”

So either has a problem understanding what he writes? or he’s just so blinded by his own prejudices that he fails to see what’s clearly in front of him

Praise be to Almighty God and His beloved Son the Lord Jesus Christ!

The following is a greeting from a member of another religious group who did not identify himself.

Manila, Philippines (July 27, 2011)- Happy Iglesia Ni Cristo Day!! Happy 97th Anniversary to all INC members around the world and we wish more show of unity specially on political endorsements with united bloc-voting. Just like every year, Pinoyworld.org, Manila Bulletin and Sunstar.com.ph will be greetings the Iglesia Ni Cristo. Almost all politicians will also greet you via newspaper greetings to Iglesia Ni Cristo (dateline, inquirer). It’s not even new to see that there will be also centerfold greetings for the Manalo family and other church followers for their Anniversary. Most of the times, this important church event of the INC appears to be a parade of politicians wanting to send their greetings to the Manalo family. Press releases will be everywhere about the global expansion of INC but we all know that the INC population is greatly increasing. You can even see many Caucasian or non Filipino INC members. Most of the foreigners who join INC is not because of marriages because non INC members cannot marry INC members. Salvation can only be attain by entering the fold, the Iglesia ni Cristo.

Below are some of the greetings mentioned by unidentified admirer. From the Inquirer

Govs cite Iglesia Ni Cristo on anniversary
Philippine Daily Inquirer
5:38 am | Tuesday, July 19th, 2011

The League of Provinces of the Philippines (LPP) composed of governors has cited the phenomenal growth nationally as well as globally of the Iglesia ni Cristo religious sect which is celebrating its 97th anniversary on July 27.
The INC has 5,000 churches, 717 of them outside the Philippines, with followers comprising 108 nationalities and ethnic origins.
“On behalf of my fellow governors, I would like to congratulate INC Executive Minister Brother Eduardo Manalo and its members for the phenomenal growth of this homegrown church that is now present in 89 countries and four territories worldwide,” said Oriental Mindoro Gov. and LPP president Alfonso Umali Jr.
The LPP also lauded Manalo for immediately reaching out to INC members to edify the church following the death of his father, Executive Minister Eraño Manalo, in August 2009.

Iglesia Ni Cristo Celebrates 97th Anniversary
Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC), a prominent and unified religious organization from the Philippines, will celebrate its 97th founding anniversary.
In 2010, INC had grown to more than 5,000 congregations in the Philippines and more than 600 abroad. The INC now has local congregations in 96 countries and territories, and its members belonging to more than 102 nationalities and ethnic groups,as quoted from an earlier report.

The declaration of July 27 as a special working holiday.

A WORKING SPECIAL HOLIDAY
On May 27, 2009, an act was approved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines declaring July 27 of every year as a special national working holiday in recognition of the founding anniversary of the Iglesia ni Cristo in the Philippines.
On July 7, 2009, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo declared July 27 as “Iglesia ni Cristo Day,” a national working holiday commemorating the founding anniversary of the sect.
In Section 2 of Republic Act 9645, “It is the declared policy of the State to observe the founding anniversary of the Iglesia ni Cristo every 27th of July in recognition of its exemplary feat of leading its members towards spiritual enlightenment and good citizenry.”

And here is a copy of the Republic Act RA 9645 proclaiming July 27 a special national working holiday.

On the fateful day of June 28, 1914, Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria, heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, was assassinated by Gavrilo Princip, a Serbian nationalist. This gave Austria-Hungary a pretext to launch a war against Serbia. While the possibility of war was about to become a reality between Austria-Hungrary and Serbia because of the latter failure to comply with the demands of the former, the Philippines on the other hand, witnessed the birth of Iglesia ni Cristo on the historic day of July 27, 1914. One day after, Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia and several weeks thereafter, the great powers of Europe were at war with one another, spreading the conflict in other parts of the world. Thus, these series of events culminated in the First World War. The year 1914 marked not only the outbreak of the first global war but the beginning of the religion called Iglesia ni Cristo in the Philippines.

For so many years, the Iglesia ni Cristo continues to expand in and across the Philippines because of the staunch leadership of Felix Manalo, its first Executive Minister. Its leader suffered persecution from his detractors in the first few years of his mission work. This religion began as a small congregation with a handful of followers in Sta. Ana, Manila. From this small congregation Manalo established in Sta. Ana, the church followers spread like fire in other parts of Luzon such as Cavite, Bataan, Bulacan, Laguna, Pampanga and Quezon.

Felix Manalo first saw the light on May 10, 1886 in Calzada, a sitio in the barrio of Tipas, Taguig (formerly part of Rizal province). His parents Mariano Ysagun and Bonifacia Manalo were poor but they were able to send him to a caton class where he was nurtured with Catholic teachings in addition to writing, reading and arithmetic. Although a loyal Catholic, Manalo began to doubt the Catholic doctrines notwithstanding his stay in the residence of his priest uncle Fr. Mariano Borja. To feed his thirst for true religion he joined other religious sects including Iglesia Filipina Independiente or Philippine Independent Church, Colorum, Iglesia Metodista Episcopal, Presbyterian Church, Christian Missionary Alliance, Seventh-Day Adventists Church, but he always ended up leaving the church. His failure to find the real Church of God did not convince him to give up his endeavor. In November 1913, after a thorough reading and understanding of the bible, he discovered the answer he was longing for. He knew that his destiny was to preach to men the true Church of God founded by Jesus Christ centuries ago- the Iglesia ni Cristo.

With his initial success in Sta. Ana, Manalo thought of forming the local congregations of Pulo, Rosario, Tipas and Buting. As the church brethrens multiplied rapidly, those within a similar province or geographical division was clustered into an ecclesiastical district. In its tenth year, the Church’s first district, Pampanga was organized. More districts were created; Tarlac, 1925; Laguna, 1928; Nueva Ecija, 1930; Zambales, 1931; Cavite, Bulacan and Bataan, 1932; Pangasinan, 1934; Quezon and Batangas, 1936. Outside Luzon, in the Visayas Cebu was organized in 1937. By 1946 the first mission in Mindanao was established. The first house of worship made of bamboo and nipa was built through ‘bayanihan’ in Gabriela, Tondo, Manila in 1918.

In February, 1939, the “Pasugo”, a monthly periodical publication in Tagalog, was first printed for the purpose of propagating the doctrines of the Church. The publication of this magazine was barred when the country was invaded by the Japanese. During the Japanese occupation, religious activities in the country were affected, but the INC religious services remained undisrupted. Without the knowledge of the Japanese, Manalo supported clandestinely the guerillas in their campaigns against the Japs by giving them food, medicine and cash.

When the Japanese forces were finally defeated by the guerillas and the Americans, the Iglesia ni Cristo had its first concrete chapel built in Washington (now Maceda St.), Sampaloc, Manila in 1948. The INC overseas mission was launched in 1968 on its 54th anniversary. After five years, Erano G. Manalo, son of Felix Manalo, who succeeded the post of Executive Minister, established two pioneering congregations in Honolulu, Hawaii on July 27 of that year and in San Francisco, California on August 18. A tragic even that shook the INC community was the death of its leader, Felix Manalo, who joined his Creator on April 12, 1963.

In celebrating its 95 years of foundation, a special national working holiday mandated by Republic Act 9645 was signed into law by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on June 12, 2009 declaring July 27 of each year as Iglesia ni Cristo Day. It was a phenomenal religion being acclaimed by many as being strong and dynamic, it remains responsive in addressing social concerns such as peace and order and poverty in the country.
